In the hands of the 5th regular interrogator of Thessaloniki is a case brought to light by the “incorruptibles” of the Hellenic Police after complaints made about “quick stamps” from 300 to 1500 euros which were given in order to expedite the procedures for issuing or renewing residence permits to immigrants , as well as for issuing citizenship decisions.
The case file includes about 60 defendants, among whom, according to information, are two employees of the competent directorates of the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace, mediators and dozens of immigrants.
It was preceded by an investigation by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of Northern Greece that began in 2019. According to the court file, the “tariff” was formed depending on the type of service.
The accused employees are being prosecuted for the crime of bribery and are expected to apologize in the next period before the investigator.
Some people involved, mainly immigrants, who have already been charged with misdemeanors, have already been called to apologize and have been released unconditionally after giving explanations.
