They will remain closed tomorrow, Friday 11 March, due to the bad weather “Filippos” the schools Primary and Secondary Education in the following areas:
1. In the whole of the Regional Unit of the Northern Sector of Attica
2. In the entire Regional Unit of Eastern Attica, with the exception of the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, where all schools will be open.
3. In the Regional unit of West Attica all the schools of the Municipality of Fili will be closed, while in the Municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia the schools in the Municipal units of Vilia and Erythra will be closed.
It is noted that in the schools that will remain closed, the lessons will be carried out with distance education.
All Primary and Secondary Schools will be open in the following Regional Units:
• In the Regional Unit of the Central Sector
• In the Peripheral Unit of Piraeus
• In the Regional Unit of Islands
• In the Regional Unit of the Southern Sector
• In the Western sector of Athens
Earlier, a new coordination meeting was held under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis, to evaluate the course of the bad weather “Filippos” and to coordinate all relevant bodies to immediately address any problems. Corresponding meetings were held in the previous days and will continue, depending on the evolution of bad weather.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Lefteris Oikonomou, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgis, George Kapageorgis , George Patoulis, as well as representatives of the Regions of Central Greece, Crete, Peloponnese and South Aegean. The “present” was also given by the President of KEDE, Dimitris Papastergiou.
Also present were the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Alexios Rapanos, the Deputy Chief of Police, Lieutenant General Ioannis Petroutsos, the Lt. General of ELAS, Eleftherios Garilas, a representative of the General Staff, a representative of the General Staff, a Deputy Coordination of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, Phoebus Theodorou. In addition, representatives of the National Road Network management concessionaires participated (Nea Odos SA / Central Road SA, Moreas SA, Olympia Odos SA, Attikes Diadromes SA), as well as the CEO of HEDNO, Anastasios Manos.
During the meeting, the Director of the National Meteorological Service (EMY), Theodoros Kolydas, informed the participants in detail about the evolution of weather phenomena and it was decided that from tonight the entry of heavy vehicles on Attiki Odos will be banned again, sections of the New Road. More information will be announced by the relevant Traffic Directorates and the concessionaires of the road network management.
Regarding the operation of the schools, the meeting again concluded with a recommendation to remain closed, tomorrow Friday 11 March, in areas of northern, eastern and western Attica, where this is deemed necessary. Relevant announcements will follow during the day from the Attica Region and the relevant Municipalities.
Finally, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection addresses strong recommendation to drivers to be equipped with anti-skid chains in Evia, Fthiotida and Viotia, while anti-skid chains will be necessary tomorrow, Friday 11 March, for the movement of vehicles in northeastern and northwestern Attica.
It is reminded that according to the Extraordinary Bulletin of Dangerous Weather Phenomena issued on Tuesday, March 08, 2022, by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), cold air masses from northern Europe will move south and affect the country – bad weather “Filip” “).
The bad weather will have the main characteristics of the very low temperatures for the season, the strong frost in places and the heavy and occasional heavy snowfalls and according to the first estimates it will be maintained until Sunday (13-03-2022).

C. Tomorrow, Friday (11-03-2022) and on the weekend (12 and 13-03-2022) the snowfall will continue in the mountainous – semi-mountainous as well as in low altitude areas in the eastern mainland and Evia, the Sporades, the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, the Cyclades and Crete.
