In addition, as of today, a new fee schedule for doctors and secretaries of the KEPA Health Committees is being implemented, with a 50% increase
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security proceeded with the formation of the Special Body of Doctors (ESI) of the Disability Certification Center (KEPA), in implementation of the commitment of the responsible minister, Nikis Kerameos, to the continuous improvement of the services of KEPA and the acceleration of the service of the vulnerable citizens.
In the context of this commitment, by decision of the administrator of e-EFKA, Dr. Alexandrou Varveris, the Special Corps of Doctors (ESI) of KEPA was formed, which is strengthened with 740 young doctors, who have successfully completed their training. The training included information about the current institutional framework, the prescribed procedures, the use of digital applications, but also issues related to the service of our fellow citizens with disabilities.
As stated in a related announcement, 13 years after the establishment of KEPA, the number of doctors has more than doubled and now stands, together with those already serving, at 1,254, strengthening coverage in specialties that certify disability.
With these initiatives, the process of issuing disability certification is accelerated, realizing the government’s commitment to empower citizens with disabilities in practice, ensuring access to their rights with respect and sensitivity.
In addition, as of today, a new fee schedule for the doctors and secretaries of the KEPA Health Committees is being implemented, with a 50% increase – the first since 2011.
According to the announcement, these initiatives are part of a holistic plan to address chronic problems of people with disabilities. This includes the recent revision of the table of irreversible diseases, which eliminates the need for re-certification for certain conditions. With this change, the administrative burden for KEPA is reduced and the daily life of thousands of citizens is facilitated.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, said: “For the first time, after 13 years, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and e-EFKA are strengthening the Center for Disability Certification with human resources, through the formation of the Special Corps of Doctors . The strengthening of the Center with 740 doctors will bring about a significant acceleration in the service of our vulnerable fellow citizens, but also in the general improvement of the organization’s services. This is just the beginning of a series of targeted actions, which will follow in the next period of time, with the aim of further improving the services of KEPA”.
