Bad weather “Filippos”: Which streets need chains – The closed schools in Attica

Problems in the traffic of vehicles are caused by the bad weather “Filippos” that has affected a large part of the country in the last hours.

Schools will remain closed today in the north and east of Attica. The lessons will be done with distance education.

The movement of vehicles in Athens Lamia is carried out normally, from the height of the Kalyftaki bridge in both traffic streams, where in the early morning hours it was carried out only with the use of anti-skid chains.

The closed roads in Attica

• in Parnithos Avenue, from the height of the cable car to the two (2) traffic streams.
• at Hasias Avenue at the height of I.M. Assumption of the Virgin Mary Closed, in both traffic streams.
• on the provincial road Ekali – Nea Makri from the height of the “414” military hospital to the East Park

The traffic of heavy vehicles is prohibited (from 22.00 last night) in parts of Athens-Lamia, on Attiki Odos, the Western Peripheral Avenue of Ymittos and the Peripheral Egaleo.

Traffic stops in the rest of the country

The traffic of heavy vehicles over 3.5 tons is also not allowed, as all vehicles that do not have anti-skid chains on the Old National Road Elefsina – Thebes, traffic flow to Thebes, from the height of the REVOIL gas station.

Which schools will be closed today

The Primary and Secondary Schools in the following areas will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, March 11, due to the bad weather “Filippos”:

1. In the whole of the Regional Unit of the Northern Sector of Attica

2. In the entire Regional Unit of Eastern Attica, with the exception of the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, where all schools will be open.

3. In the Regional unit of West Attica all the schools of the Municipality of Fili will be closed, while in the Municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia the schools in the Municipal units of Vilia and Erythra will be closed.

It is noted that in the schools that will remain closed, the lessons will be carried out with distance education.

All Primary and Secondary Schools will be open in the following Regional Units:

• In the Regional Unit of the Central Sector
• In the Peripheral Unit of Piraeus
• In the Regional Unit of Islands
• In the Regional Unit of the Southern Sector
• In the Western sector of Athens.

The operation of the nurseries falls under the responsibility of the municipalities, which will inform the interested parties. E-learning issues are regulated by the Ministry of Education and those interested should follow the relevant announcements.

Winds: East 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the Ionian north northwest with the same intensity.

Temperature: From 02 to 10 degrees Celsius. Inside Epirus from -10 (minus 10) to 04 degrees.

THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL, EASTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: In Thessaly, the Sporades, the eastern Sterea and gradually the eastern Peloponnese, clouds with sleet and snowfall in the mountainous – semi-mountainous but also in areas with lower altitudes.

Winds: North northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort with gradual weakening.

Temperature: From -03 (minus 3) to 08 degrees Celsius, in the north the maximum will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Cloudy with rain or sleet and in the mountainous – semi-mountainous snowfalls. Individual thunderstorms will occur in the early morning hours.

Winds: North 6 to 7 and east temporary up to 8 Beaufort.

Temperature: From 04 to 09 degrees Celsius.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Weather: In the islands of the eastern Aegean, clouds with sleet or snow are forecast, while in the Dodecanese, local rains and possibly isolated thunderstorms in the early morning hours.

Winds: In the north northeast 6 to 7 and in the south north northwest up to 8 Beaufort with gradual weakening from the north.

Temperature: From 07 to 10 degrees Celsius, in the north 3 to 4 degrees lower.

EUBOEA

Weather: Cloudy with sleet or snowfall. Isolated thunderstorms will occur in the early morning hours in the south.
