A new deadline for a supplementary apology was requested and received by the stationmaster of Larissa, the first accused in the case of the Tempe accident, according to larissanet.gr.
It is recalled that this person did not apologize to the appellant investigator as the latter officially assumed his duties on March 14, 2023, taking over from the regular investigator.
The station master, who is accused of felony disturbing the peace of transportation and for a series of misdemeanors, he apologized on March 5, just a few days after the fatal accident in Tempi, and was sentenced to pre-trial detention with the agreement of the investigator and prosecutor.
He had almost run out of the 18-month maximum period of pre-trial detention when he was released from prison last August with restrictive conditions and in December he is expected to pass through the door of the appellant investigator in order to give his supplementary apology.
Along with the station master accused there are 40 other people in the case of which only three have not yet apologized to the investigator. The reason for three preliminary investigation employees of the Fire Department who are accused of the misdemeanor of dereliction of duty in relation to their investigation around the fire that followed the collision of the two trains.
Those in question are expected to apologize next Thursday, while an additional apology by a former executive of the OSE is still pending.
