Safety has been an integral part of the DNA of all Ford models for many decades. Which is certainly not an exception for the company’s advanced, all-electric models of the new generation, such as the new Ford Explorer, which recently received the highest distinction of 5 stars in the demanding safety evaluation tests of the independent organization Euro NCAP.

Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment) conducts safety tests on new vehicles and then awards ‘stars’ based on their overall performance, while scores are also assigned to it in individual assessment areas. Thus, as part of the independent organization’s latest round of tests, the new all-electric Ford Explorer earned a high score, confirming once again the American company’s unwavering commitment to safety.

Ford Explorer: With top safety in all individual ratings

The new Ford Explorer received a score of 89% in terms of the protection of its adult passengers, while in that concerning children the relative performance in the Euro NCAP tests reached 86%. At the same time, the protection and safety provided by the new Ford Explorer to vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, rose to 80%. Performance in the area of ​​individual safety and driver assistance systems was also top, with Ford’s new electric model achieving a score of 72%, thanks to its impressively comprehensive standard safety equipment.

In the crash tests carried out by Euro NCAP, the passenger cabin of the electric Ford Explorer demonstrated superior strength and stability, providing all occupants with the required protection. Thanks to its specially thought-out body structure and design, the new EV also contributed to the protection of pedestrians and cyclists, even scoring the maximum number of points in terms of head, knee and shin injuries.

When it comes to the performance of the various safety systems, the performance of the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system impressed the agency in terms of their reaction to the presence of other vehicles, with the Ford Explorer EV avoiding collisions with them in most scenarios during of the relevant tests. Euro NCAP also praised Ford’s electric crossover’s standard Seat Belt Reminder system, Driver Monitoring system, Lane Support system, as well as the advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, which stood out for their performance in the various stages of testing.
