The traffic regulations are in force from today Friday, ahead of the Polytechnic’s 51st anniversary. Security measures are particularly increased this year with 5,000 police officers on the streets and at the same time constant drone and helicopter flights. At the same time, there will be assistance from officers of the Anti-Terrorist Service and the EYP. The special armored water-throwing vehicles, the well-known “Aiantes”, will also be on hand.
Furthermore, pre-checks will be carried out continuously around the building of the Polytechnic and in general in the area, while armed policemen will also be present on the roofs of neighboring buildings.
With regard to traffic regulations, the Traffic Police will intervene in the traffic of vehicles gradually and depending on the conditions, especially on Sunday when the events will peak.
ELAS announced the traffic regulations that will be implemented in the center of Athens from today (11/15) until Monday.
Traffic regulations in detail:
• Prohibition of stopping and parking, as well as interruption of vehicle traffic, which will be carried out gradually and depending on the traffic conditions, from 6 am on Friday 11-15-2024 until 6 am on Monday 11-18 -2024, as follows:
– Stournari, in the section between Pl. Exarchion and 3rd September Street.
– 28th of October (Patision), in the section between Kodrigtonos and El. Venizelos (University) in both traffic streams, as well as in the perpendicular ones up to the first parallel street.
– Tositsa Pedestrian Street.
– Pedestrian Polytechnic.
– Bouboulinas, in the section between Stournari Street and Alexandra Street.
– George, in the section between Stournari and Kapodistriou streets.
– Botasi, in the section between Stournari and Kapodistriou streets.
– Kaningos, in the section between Stournari and Chalkokondili streets.
– Solomou, in the section between 3rd September Street and Pl. Exarchion.
– Kapodistriou, in the section between Botasi and 3rd September streets.
– Exarchia Square.
– Chalkokondyli, in the section between September 3rd Street and Pl. Kaningos.

– Stadium, along its entire length and on its diagonals up to the first parallel street.

– Gelonos, in the section between Doryleou and P. Kokkalis streets.

Modifications to bus-trolley routes
Furthermore, according to the decision of “Road Transport SA”, modifications will be made to the itineraries and stops of the means of transport (Buses – Trolley).
Measures to facilitate traffic in the wider area of ​​the center of Athens have been planned and will be taken by the Attica Traffic Directorate. The security measures are draconian.
