At noon on Sunday, five small puppies were found abandoned and tied up in sacks, like garbage thrown in nature. It is an image that causes anger and disgust in every conscience.

The immediate intervention of the head of the “Noiazoami” Philanthropic Crematorium Dionysis Liaromatis and the volunteers, who were returning from the shelter and accidentally found themselves in front of the spectacle, was a lifesaver. While they found the first puppy near the road, their barking led to the discovery of the two sacks of the remaining animals. After difficult rescue efforts, due to the recent rain, which made the place even more inaccessible, and with the help of DEDDIE employees who happened to be passing by, the puppies were rescued.

As Mr. Liaromatis made known speaking to ilialive.gr, unfortunately it is not just an isolated incident but a tragic reminder of the indifference and cruelty that some people show towards the most vulnerable creatures. After all, at this specific point, they have again witnessed similar barbaric incidents.

The puppies, now about 2 months old, are safe since Mr. Liaromatis took them to the shelter, while tomorrow they will be examined by a veterinarian and an official complaint will be made to the competent authorities.

At the same time, in a last ditch effort to sensitize the residents of the area, Mr. Liaromatis appeals to anyone who knows any information about the person who dumped the puppies, to speak, stressing of course that his anonymity will be preserved.

It is time we all stand together and demand justice, showing that such acts will not go unpunished.

The conscience of society must be awakened, so that lives that some consider expendable cease to exist. Let’s finally do the right thing and speak up…
