According to the results of the Open Doors 2024 survey, as published annually by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a record number of American students choose Greece as a study abroad destination.

Specifically, the number of American students who chose to study in Greece during the academic year 2022/3 increased by almost 34% compared to the previous year (from 4,484 in 2021/2 to more than 6,000 students in 2022/3).

Greece remains in the top ten study abroad destinations for American students, attracting an increasing number of students seeking educational opportunities outside the US. In 2018, Greece was ranked 17th, highlighting its rise as a top destination for American students in recent years.

At the same time, the number of Greek students choosing the United States for their studies has also increased, with a total of 2,561 Greek students studying at American academic institutions during the 2023/24 academic year, also marking an increase compared to the previous year.
