“The warrant for his arrest was issued with the only evidence being his fingerprint on a garbage bag, a finding prior to his initial arrest in 2013”
“Neither does he know any of his co-accused, nor did he have anything to do with the apartment on Arkadias Street,” the 31-year-old who was arrested on Monday for the case of the explosion in Ampelokipos, according to a statement by his lawyer, Nikolas Aletras.
The advocate in his statement emphasizes that his client, accused of being a terrorist organization, will appear on Friday to apologize to the Investigator, completely denying what is attributed to him in the indictment. He also notes that the arrest warrant against the 31-year-old man was issued with the sole evidence of his principal’s fingerprint on a garbage bag and points out that the finding goes back to a time “prior to his initial arrest in 2013”.
The statement of Mr. Aletras is as follows:
“Regarding the said case filed by the Directorate for Dealing with Special Violent Crimes, it is worth mentioning the fact with regard to the principal I represent, that his association with the case in question takes place much later than the initial criminal prosecution in view of the finding of a department of a fingerprint on the outer surface of a plastic garbage bag, following extensive investigations by the CJEU.
Due to this fact alone, an arrest warrant was issued, and now on Friday he will be formally interviewed before the main regular investigator of the Athens police.
His position is that he denies all the accusations in view of the fact that he does not know any of his other co-accused nor did he have anything to do with the apartment on Arkadias Street where the explosion occurred, which is also confirmed by the entire case file where there is nothing else objectionable at his expense.
After all, in the last 5 years after his release from prison in the year 2019, he never bothered the authorities and did not have the slightest involvement with any illegal activity.
It is considered probable that this particular find dates back to a time prior to his initial arrest in 2013″.
