Cleaning the bottom it extends for a length of 3.5 kilometers and a width of 30 m., from the location “Matsika” to the location “Sphageia”.

From plastics to engines…

In recent years, a large amount of solid waste has been recorded at the bottom of the lake, such as plastics, aluminum, motorbikes, boats, tires, metal structures, mainly near the urban front.

Already, during the first days of the action, very large volumes of waste including tires, tables, plastic and metal chairs have been removed from the lake.

This situation led to the need to implement the underwater cleaning of the lake. Special care will be taken to avoid disturbing the sedimentary lake bed

In addition, as part of the project, an inspection of the pavements will be carried out for damage, caving and a relevant technical report will be drawn up. The action also aims to inform and raise awareness of the local community and visitors, and for this reason some of the solids that will be recovered will be exhibited in a suitable place.
