George Petridis was born in 1934 in Athens, in New Philadelphia. He studied Cinema at the Lykourgos Stavrakos Film School (1952-1955) with teachers Grigoris Grigoriou, Iakovos Kampanellis, Mino Volanaki, Mikis Theodorakis, Karolos Koun, Vassilis Diamantopoulos, Mario Pilosas, Gianos Pilosas

He organized and taught at the seminar “Creation of Film” in 6 cycles at the School of Mary Razi “I REPA” in collaboration with Mariliz Richardi (2001 – 2002), while from 1997 he taught at ANT1 Schools History of Greek Cinema and Cinematography .

Since 1954, he has worked as an assistant director in more than 50 films with directors Iona Daifa, Grigoris Grigoriou, Dimi Dadira, Dimitris Ioannopoulos, Giannis Daliannidis, Aleko Sakellario and others.

He directed many films of Greek cinema and television series, including the films “We parted a sunset (1966), The Children of the Port (1969) and Aristotle the Frivolous (1970), The Border Station (1974-1981).

He has been married to Mariliz Richards since 1992. The director Fotis Petridis is his son from his first marriage.
