The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food organizes, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Fisheries for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of FAO and with the support of the European Union, the 2nd Regional Conference on Mediterranean Aquaculture. The Conference will be held on December 4 and 5 at the Candia Maris Hotel.

The opening of the work of the Conference will be announced by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras at 9.00 am. of Wednesday. Representatives from 31 states, representatives of the European Union, as well as representatives from international organizations are participating.

Coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of the first Regional Aquaculture Conference in Bari, Italy, the conference focuses on promoting strategies that combine environmental responsibility and economic prosperity. Discussions will focus on the sustainability and resilience of the aquaculture sector, highlighting it as one of the key drivers of growth for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

The event is a milestone for the formulation of policies that strengthen the aquaculture sector and contribute to food security, job creation and economic development at the local and regional level.
