This is a good week in the capital of São Paulo for those who like to eat and drink. Among the new features is a new cafe with a menu designed by Antonio Bachour, a Puerto Rican twice voted the best pastry chef in the world.
Popa Artesanal, dedicated to artisanal hot dogs, welcomes the public again, now in a larger space. In addition, there are gastronomic fairs and several restaurants with renewed menus. Discover highlights below.

Borgo Deli
The Italian restaurant Borgo Mooca, which was transferred to Santa Cecília two years ago, gained a boost with a delicatessen that offers quick orders to take home or order for delivery. There are naturally fermented breads, bagels, sandwiches, ice creams and Roman pizzas, created with consultation from Paul Cho, from Paul’s Boutique. There are also pastas, sold in aluminum packaging to be heated, such as cannelloni stuffed with béchamel, spinach and gorgonzola, baked in a wood-fired oven with parmesan (R$ 78).

Chef Enrico Villela adds new features to the menu of his Italian-accented restaurant. There are six creations, such as the doppio ravioli (R$ 79), stuffed with sweet corn cream, ricotta and spinach, finished with butter and Aritaguaba cheese and sage, and the branchy broccoli pizza styled with garlic and oil, mozzarella, cream of ricotta, lemon and pistachio (R$ 68).

Just a Bite
At the helm of Krozta and Koya88, chef Thiago Maeda is responsible for creating the new menu for the restaurant, which opened last year on the tiny Pais de Araújo street. Following the restaurant’s original proposal, he created small portions to share, such as the roasted ham croquette accompanied by curry mayonnaise and red onion pickles (R$35) and the chic feira tacos (R$28, two units) — tortillas stuffed with kafta, beans, pepper vinaigrette and curd. Seafood is also highlighted, such as the tuna straw (R$ 45, four), filled with fish, plus sheep’s curd and wasabi, composed of tomato and green apple.

Mata Café
Antonio Bachour, twice elected the best pastry chef in the world by the Best Chef Awards, signs the menu for the new cafe, initially a pop-up on Oscar Freire Street and then a fixed space in Cidade Matarazzo, which will open a gastronomic complex with award-winning chefs next year. In his first venture in South America, the Puerto Rican confectioner presents sweets and pastries. One of his creations is the berry shortcake (R$60), almond cake with strawberry jam, diplomat cream, vanilla ganache and raspberries. The menu also lists savory options, such as salads and main dishes.

Handcrafted Stern
After a break, chef Alexandre Park returns to offering his handcrafted hot dogs, with almost all ingredients made from scratch. The public that previously gathered on the sidewalk can now eat in a parklet and in the room on the second floor of the space, which also has taps with beers from the Madalena brewery. Among the eight hot dog suggestions, the classic USA (R$ 36) has ham sausage and pancetta, eggless mayonnaise, tomato and sunomono onion on milk bread, covered with parmesan cheese.

Vegnice
The sweet and savory delicacies sold at the fair are all vegan, with options for ice cream, hot dogs, pastries and sandwiches. This Sunday (8), the edition is Christmas themed and features panettone, French toast, reinterpretations of dishes such as chester and other seasonal recipes, prepared without ingredients of animal origin. The event also sells vegan crafts and cosmetics and features live music.

Yond
Close to Avenida Paulista, the address is dedicated to drinks. There is a variety of coffees, but the specialty is cream soda, a cold drink popular in the United States and Japan, consisting of soda served with ice cream on top. There are three flavors of soda: green apple, cranberry with strawberry and pomegranate and green apple with blue lemonade. Each one costs R$22, which includes a scoop of artisan cream ice cream and a white chocolate cookie.
