On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, a total of five citizens were arrested by the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Organized Crime Directorate, who are accused of being members of rings – as the case may be – trafficking narcotic substances in Acharnes and in the center of Athens.

In particular, in the context of the use of information, the activity of a criminal organization, consisting of five individuals, was identified, which was active in the trafficking of heroin, cocaine and cannabis to various individuals, mainly from their home in Acharnes, Attica.

At the same time, the action of two individuals who, as members of a wider circle, trafficked significant quantities of heroin, cannabis and ketamine outside an Integrated Addiction Treatment Unit in Athens was certified.

In order to end their action, police officers from the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate initially carried out an operation in Galatsi, where they identified and arrested a member of the second ring for possessing on behalf of the other member, for the purpose of trafficking, 24 improvised packages of heroin, with a gross weight of 21 ,3 grams.

The second member was then identified and arrested, while additional quantities of heroin, cannabis and ketamine were found in their home.

Since the development of the operation, three members of the first criminal organization have been identified and arrested, while in searches of apartments in an apartment building in Acharnes, packages with over 1.3 kilograms of heroin (gross weight), quantities of cannabis and cocaine as well as weapons (repeated carbine, cartridges and magazines).

In total, from the searches carried out in both cases, the following were found and seized:

  • -1,485.3- grams of heroin,
  • -344.4- grams of cannabis,
  • -16- grams of cocaine,
  • -3.1- grams of ketamine,
  • -18- cartridges and repeating carbine,
  • -2- firearm magazines,
  • -3- cars,
  • -15,026.50- euros,
  • -4- scales,
  • -3- mobiles and
  • safe.

At the expense of those involved, a case file was filed for – as the case may be – the crimes of the criminal organization, violation of the law on drugs and the law on weapons.

The arrested, who have been accused of similar and other crimes in the past, were taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
