According to the case file, the 59-year-old had approached the 14-year-old girl under the pretense of wanting to ask her about her progress at school
Yesterday, Friday, December 13, a 59-year-old teacher resident of Alexandroupolis was convicted by the Three-member Criminal Court of Volos for sexual indecency.
According to the case file in August 2019, the 59-year-old had approached a 14-year-old girl on a path of the well-known “Kastani” beach in Skopelos, under the pretense of wanting to ask her about her progress at school. According to thenewspaper.gr, the 59-year-old accused surprised the young girl as he tried to stroke her hair and then kiss her on the mouth. The 14-year-old raised her voice and rushed to find shelter in her family. Then the 14-year-old’s father looked for the 59-year-old teacher, finding him on the beach with his family and called the police. It is worth noting that both families were on the island for vacation.
He claimed that it was a misunderstanding as the caress was paternal and denied that he tried to kiss her.
The 59-year-old defendant was sentenced in June 2022 to one year of probation, but the family of the minor filed an appeal at the time, resulting in the case returning to court, this time with the presence of the now 19-year-old girl.
The three-member Misdemeanor Court imposed the same sentence, however the court decided to refer the case to the Prosecutor’s Office in order to investigate whether there was rape or other acts by the teacher against the 14-year-old girl at the time.
