ELAS forces found a low-powered improvised explosive device in the bag of the 41-year-old man who threatened to blow him up outside the Thessaloniki Courthouse on Tuesday morning.
A TEAM team, as voria.gr writes, which rushed to the scene with a special detection dog, proceeded to disconnect him.
A team from the Signaling department from the General Directorate of Thessaloniki was also found at the scene, in order to photograph the bag and the explosive device.
At the same time, according to information, the weapon found in the bag was a replica.
According to information, the 41-year-old is said to be Greek-Irish with a relevant passport.
The police have proceeded to arrest him, after he put up a strong resistance.
The case has been taken over by the anti-terrorist since the improvised explosive device consisted of firecrackers of pyrotechnic composition (9 large ones and a base which also contained pyrotechnic composition), wiring – batteries.
According to the police, under certain conditions it would be functional, capable of causing serious injuries at close range (up to about 3 meters).
