In a second postponement, and after three interruptions, the trial for the case of the “Spartans” who are on trial for defrauding the electorate, was conducted.

The court decided to adjourn the proceedings until March 7, as the law associations of Livadia, Thessaloniki, Athens, did not give permission to lawyers who represent defendants in the trial, because according to the decision of the plenary session of the law associations, they did not leave to appear lawyers is given when the proceedings have been interrupted three times.

At the same time, the court decided to forward copies of the case file to the public prosecutor to investigate whether the crime of perjury has been committed by the key witness in the case, Vassilis Stiga, who twice failed to appear in court. The trial was finally adjourned until March 7.

On the bench of the Single Member Court of Appeal are 11 MPs who were elected with the “Spartiats” party, Ilias Kasidiaris and a lawyer. The 13 defendants are on trial for charges related to the case of voter fraud during the June 2023 elections.

Ilias Kasidiaris, who is accused as the moral perpetrator in the crime of voter fraud, had taken leave from Domokos prisons where he is being held to attend the trial.

Mr. Stigas is the key witness in the case, as he is the one who, from the floor of the Parliament, spoke about “Greek mafia” practices and blackmail in his party.
