Mr. Salales said that “fortunately I was talking to my daughter who is abroad and I managed to tell her to call the police. Since that moment, we have been silenced, we have been bound. They have immobilized us with pistols.”

“It was an organized attack. They took quite a few things. They had beaten the wife and me. They unplugged our landlines and switched off our mobile phones,” he added.

Referring to the way EL.AS treated them, Mr. Salales said: “My nephew was told by Direct Action to keep calling us on the phones. The police came and rang the bell while the perpetrators were inside instead of intervening. They were telling us that the rules of engagement didn’t allow them to put in a siren.”
