The search for the 18-year-old, who has been missing since noon on Monday at the Selio ski center in Imathia, remains fruitless so far.

According to thestival.gr, the investigations continued throughout the night. Since the afternoon, forces from the Fire Brigade of Veria and EMAK, the Civil Protection, employees of the ski resort and volunteer skiers from Seli have been on foot to locate the young skier.

Within the day, officers from the 5th EMAK are expected to arrive, while according to information, a helicopter is also likely to be raised within the day in order to assist in the search for his location.

Speaking to ANT1, the manager of the ski resort in Seli, Lakis Meliopoulos, said that “all the slopes have been checked and we have not found anything, now we are operating in the forest, outside the ski resort”.

According to him, “he had a good day (including yesterday), his disappearance is not justified, he had good temperatures. Young kids don’t realize what dangers exist off the track.”

“We will search on foot, we search with thermal cameras, with a drone, we hope for the best” concluded Mr. Meliopoulos.

The president of Kato Vermio, Giorgos Farsarotos, speaking to newsit.gr noted: “We hope the child is found and has a happy ending. EMAK is up at the moment and has raised thermal cameras but so far no trace has been found. We hope that with the first light the investigations will be intensified and we will have a result”.

As reported yesterday by veriotis.gr, the young man of about 20-22 years old, originally from Kilkis, went up with his group, 4-5 people from Thessaloniki, to Seli for skiing on the Day of Lights. The young man who was snowboarding, at one point moved away from his company to explore the slopes of the ski resort. His traces were lost after the closing of the center, with his company, alerting the authorities, as time passed, their friend did not return and they were unable to contact him.
