The largest white shark recorded in the Atlantic Ocean has been found by marine life researchers, off Florida.

Almost 4 meters long and 750kg weight, the contender – as it was called – was identified by scientists by Ocearch Foundation, who placed it a special surveillance transmitter.

The contender was found on January 17, 2025 and is the largest male white shark that the team has ever identified in the western North Atlantic Ocean.

On social media, the organization referred him as a “real ocean giant”.

“The shark was named Contender, in honor of Contender Boats, a long -term Ocearch partner whose advanced vessels contribute decisively to our research missions,” the team said.

The special transmitter placed on it will transmit real -time data for his movements and behavior, offering valuable information for the coming years.
