Cyber ​​attack on ELTA – The information systems in the post offices are temporarily out of order

A cyber attack with malware took place on Sunday at the Hellenic Post (ELTA).

For reasons of prevention and security, the operation of the commercial information system of all post offices is temporarily suspended.

According to the announcement of ELTA, the cyber attack took place in its information systems, however, after the immediate reaction and the actions of the competent services, the expansion of the attack was limited and prevented.

For reasons of prevention and security, the entire Data Center of the company was isolated.

The announcement of ELTA in detail:

The Hellenic Post Office faced a cyber attack on its information systems last night through malware. The immediate reaction and actions of the competent official functions limited and prevented the spread of the attack. We have been informed immediately and are working closely with all relevant government authorities as well as with IT companies specializing in cybersecurity.

For reasons of prevention and security and until all the required actions are completed, it was decided to isolate the entire Data Center of the company. We are therefore announcing the temporary suspension of the commercial information system of all post offices and there will be a new update to the public and our customers later in the day.

Hellenic Post apologizes for the temporary inconvenience caused by actions of common cyber criminals and assures that they are being paid.
