A commemorative medal for the 200 years since the Greek Revolution was presented to the members of the Special Synodal Committee for Cultural Identity and the Scientific Committee by the Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece Ieronymos, honoring them for the 10 Conferences.
During the event, the Archbishop thanked all the members of the Committee for their efforts, the Permanent Holy Synod, the Hierarchy and the whole Church, describing this work as admirable. “These volumes will remain and mourn your efforts and events, but they will also be the” right hand “of researchers,” said the Archbishop. On the occasion of the new Conferences being prepared, he wished the Commission to continue its important work and called on the members to work in the same way.
For his part, the chairman of the Committee, Metropolitan of Demitriados and Almyros Ignatios spoke about the work of the Committee and the next Conferences that are being prepared on the occasion of the completion of one hundred years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
The Chairman of the Scientific Committee Emmanuel Varvounis then referred to the contribution of the ten Scientific Conferences, outlined the next three Conferences and thanked the Archbishop for his support.
The event was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Bishop Philotheos of Oreon and the Protosyggellos of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Barnabas Theocharis.
The members of the ERC and the Scientific Committee are: Metropolitans of Chios Markos, Nea Krini and Kalamaria Ioustinos, Polyanis and Kilkisiou Bartholomew, Archimandrite Epifanios Oikonomou, Emmanouil Varvounis, Konstantinos Eoschos and Dimitrios Moschos. Alternate members are Aikaterini Galani and Panagiotis Haratzopoulos and Dimitrios Baltas, while the Secretary of the Committee is Archimandrite Damaskinos Petrakos.
It is noted that for the events that took place on the occasion of the completion of 200 years since the Greek Revolution, the contribution of the Special Synodal Committee on the Academy of Ecclesiastical Arts was important, whose members will be awarded in a future ceremony.
