The new information system will record road violations, confirm fines and digitally send the call (via SMS or e-mail)
For the new digital system implemented by the Ministry of Digital Governance with the aim of improving road safety and traffic, as well as reducing bureaucracy, he spoke to Vasilis Koufopoulos and the broadcast ‘Snapshots’ in SKAI 100.3Mr. George GiannisProfessor and Director of the Department of Transport and Transport Infrastructure of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and head of the NTUA Road Safety Observatory, a Center for Excellence and Innovation Center for its valuable contribution to the safest mobility for all worldwide.
The new information system, which is in the implementation phase, will record road violations, confirm fines and incorporate digital procedures for managing road traffic offenses through a single call platform. Then the offender will receive the call digitally (via SMS or e-mail) and will be able to make an electronic payment.
At the same time, the system provides for the supply of software and support services for the installation of visual sensors (cameras) at focal points throughout the territory, for the recording of infringements, which, in combination with the operation of the central information system, will make it easier to manage their controls and fines.
According to Mr. Giannthe Ministry of Digital Governance already has map the ‘dangerous positions’in each area of Attica, so that the competent services can prioritize their interventions, and drivers can, at any time, evaluate the danger of a point and avoid it or be more careful.
The professor made a detailed reference to the areas of the basin they present the highest indicators of delinquency and danger.
He specifically said that the problem is not as intense in the center, as not only traffic congestion but also illegal parking do not allow drivers to develop high speeds and as a result, they act as “Road Safety allies”.
The biggest problem is observed in the eastern suburbs (to Aspropyrgos) and in the southern suburbs (to Vari and Vouliagmeni), where drivers can develop higher speeds that can bring about “Not only more accidents, but also more serious accidents.”
In the western suburbs (after Aigaleo), recorded “Great delinquency, which is the predominant factor of accidents.”
However, Mr. John It stood at the difference in traffic image in the northern suburbs. Although also on the streets of the northern suburbs, drivers can develop high speeds, fewer traffic accidents are recorded because of “different culture and mentality in the assessment of human life and more systematic policing”
The professor pointed out that road safety is a matter for all of us. “We all build together for our safety on the streets”he said characteristically and stressed that “The right education, which starts mainly by the family, is a fundamental factor in gaining the right road education.”
