Four Galapagos turtles, a species of extinction, hatched successfully – Mom turtle has been in the zoo since 1932!
A pair of turtles galapagos almost 100threatened with extinction at the Philadelphia Zoo, USA for the first time parents.
In a statement on Friday, the zoo said it was “unhappy” for the arrival of the 4 small turtles, which is for the first time 150 years of history.
Babies are descendants of Mami and Abrazoof the two older residents of the zoo.
Turtles weigh between 70 and 80 grams and the first egg hatched in February 27.
According to the announcement, the Mami lives in the zoo since 1932.
“The vision of the Philadelphia Zoo is that these newborns will be part of a thriving galapagos turtle on our healthy planet in 100 years from now,” It is emphasized in the announcement.
Mami is considered one of the most valuable genetic turtles of Galapagos and is the oldest mother of the genre.
The last birth of such turtles was in 2019 in a zoo in Columbia, South Carolina.
