The Greek Police, in view of of Easter celebration receives, the Interval from Friday, 11 to Sunday, April 27, 2025increased traffic measures throughout the country’s road network, with the aim of safely moving citizens and preventing and preventing traffic accidents.

The design was carried out on the basis of the strategic planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, for complete and continuous activation of all Traffic and Traffic Services and Includes:

  • Intensive Traffic Police measures at the entrance-exits of large urban centers, where there is a large traffic of vehicles,
  • Increased Traffic Measures in places where mass trafficking is observed (airports, ports, stations, etc.),
  • Increased police presence and targeted policing of the roads of the road network, where there is a frequency of traffic accidents,
  • Developing measures and special actions in places to take place, festive events,
  • Cooperation with relevant bodies and services, as well as informing the citizens through the press offices, in any event that the public’s widespread information on the existence of any traffic and other problems is necessary.

To this purpose Special Transporting will be active in alternating points of the road network, focusing, among other things on violations such as:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol,
  • speeding,
  • Use mobile phone while driving,
  • non -use of protective helmet – security belt,
  • irregular overtaking and double -dividing overruns etc.,
  • Non -use of specific retention and protection means, such as seats, seat belts, etc., when transporting children with vehicles,
  • Driving vehicles by minors and people who do not have a driving license,
  • Driving for demonstration of skill,
  • vehicles, which have not undergone regular or extraordinary technical inspection within the set deadline,
  • worn tires and
  • irregular movement of vehicles in the emergency lane (LEA).

Throughout the application of the measures, both the staff and the media of the Greek Police, notably the Traffic Police Services, will be on increased operational readiness. Specifically, patrols, motorcycles and conventional vehicles will be available with similar staff and equipment for the effective policing of the country’s road network.

It is noted that, during the festive season, Truck -drive prohibitions will apply maximum weight over 3.5 tonnes.

The Greek Police, on the occasion of the forthcoming festive season, again reminds all drivers and users of the road network that road safety is a matter for all of us.

In the context of this constitutes for citizens:

  • Before traveling to do technical inspection in their vehicle and be informed about the state of the road network and weather conditions.
  • Be very careful when driving and observe the rules of the Road Traffic Code.
  • Respect road signs and comply with the instructions of the traverses.
  • Do not use mobile phones or other devices that distract them when driving.
  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages if they are going to drive.
  • Protect children who board the vehicle by using children’s seats.
  • Necessarily wear seat belts, as do helmets on motorcycles.
  • Use non -slip chains where there are special traffic conditions (frost, etc.).
  • Do not overestimate their driving abilities and technical capabilities of their vehicles.
  • Respect and protect their passengers and fellow human beings who use the road network, leading their vehicle with responsibility and care.

Prohibition of trucking of maximum permitted weight of more than 3.5 tonnes during Easter celebration

In the context of reducing traffic problems, improving road traffic and increasing road safety, During the Easter celebration, in addition to the traffic facilitation measures to be taken locally, will apply and prohibition of all lorry cars of maximum weight permitted over 3.5 tonnes as below:

  • On the A8 Motorway (Athens-Patras) from the Elefsina Tolls (CT 26+500) to the Rio Tolls (ch. 199+660) in the direction of Patras.
  • On the A1 Motorway (Athens-Thessaloniki-Ephesians), from Ag. Stephanou (Kryoneri) (CT 27+960) to the Rachon junction of Fthiotida (CH.242+479), from the Makrychori Tolls (CH 374+291) to the junction of Leptokaryas (CH 410+359) in the direction of Thessaloniki.
  • On the Thessaloniki – N. Moudania Highway, from Thermi Bridge to the N. Moudania junction (61.5 km) in the direction of Halkidiki.
  • On the A11 Motorway (Schimatari – Chalkida), from its intersection with the A1 motorway (CH 65+820) to the High Chalkida Bridge (CT 12+300) in Chalkida.

  • Motorway A52: Aktio road connection with axis North – South (Ambrakia Road) from X/θ 0+001 (Aktio) to X/θ (48+940) Ionian/Ambrakia Ionian Connection, heading to Ionia (A/K Ambrakia).

Excluded from traffic ban:

  • Vehicles offered by road assistance, according to Law 3651/2008, the ELTA trucks, the distribution distribution cargo cars, the public cars (FDC) and the private use (FIF) carrying live animals, vulnerable foods, 50786/3319/2014 (B ‘2418) Joint Ministerial Decision, provided that the percentage of the load of the above products transferred is at least 10% of the beneficial load.

  • Tanks of water transport vehicles (aquifers) when moving to deal with forest fires.
  • Public and Private and Private Truck Vehicles (FFS) carrying fresh fruit and vegetable products.
  • Trucks carrying by -products of animal origin for inactivation, in accordance with Regulation EC 1069/2009, provided that they have a relevant permission from the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Region concerned and are accompanied by the provided for commercial document.
  • The trucks of utilities (DEDDIE, ADMIE, OTE, Natural Gas, etc.) when they are moving to restore extraordinary damage to their networks only if they are accompanied by a written order of the Organization.
  • Tankers carrying fuel for refueling firefighting, provided this is evidenced by appropriate documents or documents.
  • The trucks of transporting equipment of music and theatrical performances and the trucks used to execute and transfer equipment to cover television and film events.
  • Trucks that carry oxygen for medical purposes.
