Egg painting is an integral part of Easter preparation. The red color traditionally dominates, symbolizing the blood of Christ’s sacrifice and the Renaissance through the empty grave.

According to tradition, Good Thursday and Good Saturday are the established days when the eggs are dyed with the exception of Good Friday. In recent years, new methods have enriched the custom, in addition to the classic recipe, such as the laying of eggs with threads.

According to Nektaria Kokkinakis, a certified olive oil tastier and Mediterranean diet ambassador by the European Network of Mediterranean Diet Network (MD.net) in the Athenian -Macedonian News Agency, “The Technique of Baptizing with Threads.

“Instead of classic dyes, colorful threads are wrapped tightly around the eggs before entering the pot. During the boiling, the thread pigments are transported to the shell, creating unique and unpredictable designs, like small works of art. All family members can participate and create each one, their own separate egg, ”he adds.

“The kitchen turns into a creative workshop, where the fantasy and colors of the threads make up unique Easter ornaments,” concludes Ms Kokkinaki.
