In detail the ELAS announcement:
Regarding publications based on social media suspension, where a “police violence” incident is reported during a arrest of a person in the area of Kifissia, the following are clarified:
Evening hours of April 17, 2025 on Tatoiou Street in Transfiguration, a motorcycle driver, which was also a passenger, refused to comply with a DIAS Police Station Signal. And then he made dangerous maneuvers by developing excessive speed, violating light traffic lights and entry into a one -way street, thereby endangering other drivers and pedestrians.
Then, reaching the height of Kalyftakis Street with G. Lyra Street in Kifissia, the driver lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a front vehicle, resulting in a slight injury, a reason why he was transported by ambulance to EKAB to a hospital. It should be noted that it did not bring a protective helmet while also lacking a driving license.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving, absent and deprivation of driving license, while he was imposed on the relevant administrative fines (EUR 2,425) for three cases of red traffic light, as well as for deprivation of diploma, demonstration of abilities, non -use of helmets and traffic.
Furthermore, in terms of the complainants, a pre -trial and administrative investigation is being carried out, in accordance with the fixed practice in similar cases, in order to ascertain the merits of the claims of police officers.
It is recalled that dangerous driving, especially when combined with ignorance of the CCC, a lack of driving license or non -use of a protective helmet, is not only an infringement, but a deadly risk – for the driver, or the passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
Officers, and especially front -line crews, will continue to give daily struggle under difficult and often dangerous conditions for preserving the legality, traffic order and security of all.
