Crowds responded to the calls of bodies, federations and trade unions
The march to the House completed the central strike of GSEE, ADEDY and the EKA (Athens Workers’ Center) as part of the events of Labor Day.
The protesters gathered in the morning at Klafthmonos Square and after the speeches of the representatives of the clubs they headed to Syntagma Square.
The participation was massive and the “present” was given, among other things, hospitals, in the Avgi newspaper and the “Red” radio station, pensioners’ associations, as well as delegations from SYRIZA, New Left, ML KKE, ERG.
During the gathering, speakers were the President of the NRA, Konstantinos Koulouris, the chairman of the ADEDY Executive Committee, Vassilis Polymeropoulos, the Secretary General of the NRC, George Kakararis and the Vice President of the NRA, Konstantinos Maniatis.
Their positions referred to the need for a fair and decent society with equally decent wages and working conditions.
There have also been references to the historical May Day of 1886 and the uprising of the Chicago workers, but also on topical issues such as the recent dismissal by the Hellenic Train of the President of the drivers, Costas Genidounia.
