The Greek Police arrested two people in the area of ​​Ano Liosia and proceeded with eight cases of theft in houses.

The total benefit given by the defendants from their criminal activity amounts to 170,000 euros

The Organized Crime Management Division has been abducted by a criminal group, whose members argued that they are conservators or PPC employees committed thefts in elderly houses in areas of downtown Athens and in the wider Attica.

A police operation carried out by the Department of Crimes Property of the Division of Prosecution of Life and Property, on the morning of Tuesday, April 29, in an area of ​​Ano Liossia, 2 nationals, 39 -year -old and 43 -year -old, were identified and arrested, 39 -year -old and 43. Continued and profession, whose total benefit exceeds 120,000 euros.

In addition, the case file includes a 23 -year -old national whose details have been identified.

According to the investigation, the defendants at least since August 2024, have set up a structured criminal organization with constant action for the purpose of illegal income, committing distinguished thefts with the method of employment in homes in Attica.

In terms of action, members of the criminal organization, acting mainly in the morning – noon in groups of two or three people, identified elderly people with weakened clarity, who followed on their return from external work and awaited them at the entrances of their homes.

There, in order to achieve their purpose, they were prevented that they were elevators or PPC employees and persuaded their victims to allow them to enter their homes in order to ascertain supposed damage.

They then led the sufferers to the kitchen, where they were concerned with various pretexts. Indeed, sometimes pretending to damage the lift of their apartment building they tried to follow them on the ground floor. Thus, their associates found the right opportunity and entered the house, researching the sites and deducting money, jewelry and valuables.

The ‘cable’

They had also developed a special code of communication with each other, with terminology tailored to their way of action, so as not to be perceived by the sufferers.

For example, they used the term “cable” in phrases such as “to climb the cable”, “the cable come close” etc. thus stating the moment of entry or withdrawal of their associates from their goal.

In addition, in the majority of cases, they were addressed to each other with false names in order to mislead the sufferers and hide their real details.

At the same time, each person’s role was determined in the commitment of the theft as follows:

  • The 39 -year -old played a central role in the organization as he participated in the majority of criminal offenses, taking the role of approaching the sufferers and persuading them for his status, and then employed either in the elevator or in the kitchen area with various pretexts to facilitate his work.
  • The 43 -year -old and the 23 -year -old were the ones who were entering the houses, as long as the sufferers were busy in various places.

In surveys conducted in houses, they were found and confiscated:

  • Crowds of gold and jewelry (neck chains, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings, earrings, etc.),
  • numerous electronic devices,
  • multitude of watches,
  • numerous mobile phones and SIM cards,
  • Personalized gambling cards and casino,
  • security cameras,
  • tablet and
  • Gold-metal detection device.

The investigation has been resolved by – 8 – cases of thefts in Athens, Exarchia, Kypseli, Patisia, Nea Smyrna, Nea Ionia and Alimos, while the total benefit gained by team members from their criminal activity amounts to a sum of € 110,000.

The defendants have been concerned with similar offenses, and restrictive conditions have been imposed on them.

The detainees, with the case file against them, were taken to the competent prosecutor, and the investigation to fully ascertain the breadth of the criminal activity of the members of the criminal group continues.
