A 37 -year -old police officer accused of firing and fatally wounded 16 -year -old Roma Costas Frangoulis during a police pursuit in December 2022 in Western Thessaloniki.

The defendant said he acted under defense status because of the danger that, he said, his colleagues were running from the course of the rural car driving the minor victim. He defended his actions, under the prevailing conditions, noting, inter alia, that the two consecutive shots he threw were intended to hit the vehicle’s tires. He expressed his regret for the outcome of his actions, stressing that this incident would accompany him for his entire life.

Little tension prevailed in the courtroom when the 16 -year -old’s father intervened in the apology and addressed the 37 -year -old defendant to tell the truth. The trial was interrupted and will continue on June 12 with the proposal of the Prosecutor.

According to the referendum of the Criminal Court of Appeal, the accused police officer, with a degree of police officer, is being prosecuted for homicide with a possible fraud, in a calm mental state, but also for executing illegal shots. The indictment describes in detail the time of the pursuit, which began when police were informed that the minor victim had left his father’s farm car from a gas station without paying 20 euros for the fuel he had put in.
