In public electronic consultation The draft law of the Ministry of Health for the protection of minors from tobacco and alcohol products is put into place.

The bill, inter alia, provides for the prohibition of selling, supplying and distributing, in every way, of tobacco and alcohol products to minors.

Key points of the provisions of the draft law, with the aim of protecting minors from the use and consumption of tobacco and alcohol products, are:

a) The prohibition of selling, offering and distributing, in any way, of tobacco and alcohol products to minors and by minors,

(b) The establishment of the obligation to identify adulthood and search for identity by the seller at all points of sale,

(c) The compulsory announcement to the Greek Police or Port Authority of private events held in entertainment centers and a pure bar, provided that minors participate, via a special electronic platform, while posting the relevant agreements,

(d) the establishment of strict administrative sanctions in cases of violations and

(e) The provision of criminal penalties in the case of the sale, supply and disposal of tobacco and alcohol to minors and minors, as well as in the case of entry, stay and employment at entertainment centers and a pure bar.

With regard to tobacco products, key points of the provisions of the draft law are:

(a) The configuration in a more complete manner of the terms and conditions of traffic on the market of products falling within the scope of Law 4419/2016 (A 174) and, in particular, vapor products and plant products for smoking,

(b) The establishment of a Special Department in the National Organization of Public Health (EODY) to monitor the circulation of tobacco products in the Greek market, which may prohibit and/or revoke it for public health and reasons.

(c) Simplifying the procedure for imposing administrative sanctions, which are directly imposed by the Independent Public Revenue Authority.

With regard to non -tobacco products, key points of the provisions of the draft law are:

(a) Defining the terms and conditions of traffic, sale and disposal of electrically heated products without smoke, nicotine and cannabis products on the market,

(b) The universal ban on the sale, offered and disposed of to minors, as well as the prohibition on selling these products through vendor and seller and

(c) The definition of the competent authorities to comply with the provisions of the circulation, sale, offer and disposal of these products and the provision of sanctions in cases of violations.

Finally, in order to further enhance the market control mechanism, the provisions of the draft law provide for the establishment of a digital register of alcohol, tobacco and other non -tobacco products and the regulation of the terms and conditions for its operation.

In this context, it is invited to participate in the public consultation of every social partner and any interested party, submitting his proposals for any improvement in the provisions of the above legislation.

The consultation will run until June 16 at 9am.
