In the 48 -hour strike, the seafarers who work on the Passenger -Harbor ships of the Patras – Igoumenitsa – Italy are proceeding from the dawn of Tuesday, June 3 to midnight on Wednesday, June 4.

The strike focuses on chronic and – during the PNO – now a dangerous problem of under -staffing ships active in the Adriatic.

According to a statement, the Federation denounces serious deficiencies to personnel, which disproportionately burden existing crew members, leading to debilitating hours, overwork and professional exhaustion phenomena, with a direct impact on the safety of navigation and human life.

The decision was taken at the last meeting of the PNO Executive Committee on May 19, 2025, where the situation was re -evaluated.

The Federation stresses that the problems remain unresolved, despite the commitments made by the state and employers after the October four -day strike.

In the framework of the mobilization, the PNO sent a letter to the Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, the President of SEEN and the Department of Maritime Labor of YNANP, submitting a specific proposal for the necessary staffing of the Adriatic ships.

On the subject of staffing, the proposal of the Panhellenic Cooks Union is: 1 Chef 1 Cook A ‘2 Cooks B’ 2 Cooks C 3 Castlers

Regarding the crew of the deck and engine room, the PNO states that the staffing must be shaped as follows: Deck: 1 Lostromos, 2 Lieutenants, 12 Savings, 2 Shipwrecks,

Engine: 4 drivers, 1 cleaner

It also points out that the Grimaldi Lines, which run Patras-Italy, to be checked and restored by the Greek seafarers on the basis of their certificate and not to be shipped to subordinate specialties, are also on the Italian flag under the Italian flag.

He also stresses that they remain pending under his responsibility for the issues of overnight stays and express routes for ferry.

The PNO calls for its requests to be restored by informing that otherwise, it will continue its trade union interventions until our problems are resolved.
