The summer solstice is today June 21st. Is the longest day of the year that marks and the start of summer in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of winter in the southern hemisphere of the Earth.
In the northern hemisphere – where our country belongs – the days will diminish graduallyat first subtle and by the Augustwhile the nights will grow respectively. On the other hand, in the southern hemisphere will be the first day of winter (winter solstice).
The Solstroxes and equinoxesthat define astronomically her Duration of the year of the yearoccur because the days of the year have no equal duration between them. The reason is that the Earth wanders around the sun and its axis of rotation is tilted almost 23.4 degrees. If there was no this slope, there would be no seasons and the day would always last 12 hours, and the sun would follow the same “path” over the earth every day.
But because of the slope of the axis of rotation, half the year (from the spring to the autumn equinox) the northern hemisphere ’tilts’ toward the sunby culminating in summer solstice which happens between June 20 and 22, while the other half year the southern hemisphere tilts more towards the sun, culminating in the winter solstice.
It is noted that we had sunrise at 06:02 and we will be at 20:51. Overall, today’s day is 14 hours and 48 minutes.
