Summer discounts begin on Monday, July 14, which will last until Saturday, August 30, offering consumers opportunities for lower prices.
On Sunday, July 20th, the shops have the option of operating optional, proposing hours 11:00 – 18:00, or even until 20:00, if traders wish.
Attention to the labels
According to Article 9i Law 2251/1994, each announcement of a price reduction is expressly indicated by the earlier price (often referred to as a reference value), on the basis of which the discount.
The earlier price is the lowest implemented by the trader to each product during the 30 days before the first discount on July 14.
Specifically for regular discounts, according to the new Code of Conduct (YA 66877/30-8-2024) the price reduction may be as follows: percentage (%), eg “20% discount”, specific amount, eg “10 euro discount” and a new one lower with the earlier.
The earlier price may also appear deleted, eg “50 euros 100 euros”.
Shopkeepers should pay particular attention to compliance with discounts and reduced prices, as sanctions are heavy.
