An incredibly brutal incident took place on the road to the Carpathian Romanian Mountains, as a bear attacked and killed a motorcyclist while he was driving, according to Reuters.
Romania has the largest bear population from the European Union countries.
Specifically, the number of brown bears in Romania approaches 10,000 to 13,000, with the competent authorities fighting to safeguard the safety of residents and tourists in the mountain cities.
Tourists on the Transfagarasan road in Central County Arges, where the bear’s attack on the motorcyclist was attacked, alerted the police. The bear, in fact, had dragged the motorcyclist into a ravine.
Nearly 30 people have been killed by bears in Romania for the past two decades, the Ministry of the Environment said.
Last year, by a decision of the Romanian Parliament, the number of bears that would be killed annually was doubled by touching 481 in order to control the population of these animals but also to remove animals that have the habit of entering homes looking for food.
Many bears are attracted to landfills on the outskirts of cities and by thrown food.
