Very high temperatures are foreseen in the country from tomorrow, Sunday (06-07-25) to Wednesday (09-07-25), according to the updated Weather Extraordinary Bulletin (EDEK) today issued by the National Meteorological Service (NMS).

The rise in temperature will begin in west and Macedonia today Saturday (05-07-25) and the rest of Greece tomorrow (06-07-25). The highest prices (maximum prices above 40 points) will be marked by Monday (07-07-25) within mainland Greece and mainly in the west, central and north.

It is noted that:

A. In the coastal areas of the mainland the maximum temperature value will be 2 to 4 degrees lower than the temperature inside the mainland Greece.

B. The relative humidity will range at low levels (for example 20% to 30% in the midday hours inside the mainland).

C. Minimum temperatures, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in urban centers will be held high and will range around 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.

In more detail:

1. On Sunday (06-07-25) high temperatures will prevail in all continents and the Ionian Sea. The maximum prices will arrive:

a) In Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus and Western Solidarity 38 to 39 and possibly local 40 degrees Celsius.

(b) In the eastern solid and the Peloponnese 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

c) In the Ionian islands 35 to 36 degrees Celsius.

2. On Monday (07-07-25) very high temperatures will occur in the Ionian Islands and all continents while the temperature will rise in the eastern island country. The maximum prices will arrive:

a) In mainland Greece 39 to 40 and locally 41 degrees Celsius.

b) In the Ionian Islands, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.

3. On Tuesday (08-07-25) and Wednesday (09-07-25), a slight drop in high temperatures in the Ionian and west continental and slight rise (about 1 to 2 degrees) in the eastern continents and the Aegean. It is estimated that the maximum prices will reach 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.

Civil Protection Recommendations to Citizens Due to high temperatures

Recommendations to citizens are addressed by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection in order to be particularly careful, ensuring that self -protection measures arise from high temperatures.

In areas where high temperatures are prevalent, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection draws attention to people who belong to vulnerable groups to be particularly careful to avoid health problems, such as thermal exhaustion and heat stroke, which may be caused by the high temperatures.

The GAPP has informed the competent government agencies involved, as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness to address the impact of high temperatures.

In particular, according to the self -protection guidelines from high temperatures, it is recommended for citizens:

• Stay in cool and shady areas away from overcrowding, use air conditioners or fans, and avoid heavy physical work in high temperature, apnea and high humidity.

• Avoid sunbathing, as well as walking or running under the sun and wear a hat and sunglasses and light -colored clothing that allows the skin to ventilate and facilitate sweat evaporation, avoiding synthetic fabrics.

• Consume light meals with fruits and vegetables, limiting fat and amount of food.

• Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, avoiding alcohol.

Particular care is recommended for babies and young children, as well as the elderly and sufferers from chronic diseases to protect them from high temperatures
