Barrels in SKAI for the thriller of Patras: No confession or clear cause of death is needed to prosecute

by

Towards the end it goes thriller with the deaths of three children in Patraswhile new data see the light of day every day.

As the social worker at Hamogelo tou Paidou, Athena Kalegia, told SKAI and the show “Simera”, the treating doctors had addressed Hamogelo, when he was hospitalized.

“We had initially received a request from the doctors for the support of the family, because he had lost two children, as we do in any case. “We declared our support to the family and we waited for the corresponding request from the family itself if it wanted our support”, he stated characteristically.

She stressed that the Child’s Smile is not the competent body to investigate a case and in this context they referred the doctors to address the prosecutor for anything that bothered them.

Ms. Kalegia pointed out that since there was no request from the family, Child Smile could not start any collaboration with them.

In the criminal part, the lawyer, Ms. Varela stated that the treating doctors were the ones who started the whole investigation and did not sign the death certificates, adding that what is of special value for the development of the case is the conclusion of the forensic examination.

“If we have a report that says there is a suffocating death, then of course there is criminal activity and sufficient evidence of guilt to prosecute. The person next to the victim is more likely to be found to have committed a criminal negligence, omission or action. If the finding has an unspecified cause of death, since we do not have a confession from a person, it does not mean that investigators can not be prosecuted for abduction. If there is no pathological cause or genetic cause, we come to a conclusion. “There is no need for a confession or a clear cause of death,” he explained.

He added that the investigators already have a clear picture of the place, time and persons who were next to Georgina, at her death, however no person still has the status of a suspect.

Respectively, the President of the Athens Police Officers Association, Demosthenes Pakos, noted that the Homicide Department, in order to arrest someone, must either have the evidence unshakable or have in its hands the conclusion of the forensic investigation.
