On the occasion of public references made about patient airspace by FolegandrosEKAB clarifies the following:

On the night of July 31, 2025 at 22:33, his air -coordinating center of the airlines EKAB He received a call from the physician of the Folegandros Multipurpose Regional Medical Center for a cardiological incident. According to the information, the patient had stabilized and remained under constant medical monitoring within a health formation, which ensures, by his nature, the basic conditions of safety until the completion of the secondary nursing institution is completed.

Immediately the process of searching for the most appropriate means of transport began, with the priority of ensuring the health of the patient, as well as the operational safety of those involved. As it was found that the use of a floating medium was not possible, at 01:23 a request was made to the General Staff of the Air Force (OHIM) for a volatile disposal, in accordance with the procedure.

The Air Force was helicopter – with an EKAB floating team – which was already planning an airway to receive another patient from Milos and would then head to Folegandros. Despite immediate mobilization, landing on the island, around 05:00, was not possible due to adverse weather conditions, which did not allow a safe flight approach. The helicopter left without receipt, complying with the intended flight protocols that strictly govern every operational decision. Throughout, the EKAB Coordinating Center maintained constant communication with the treating physician, receiving regular information on the patient’s stable condition.

With the change of weather conditions, a few hours later – on the morning of August 1 – a new flight was made to the island. The helicopter landed safely in Folegandros, received the patient and successfully completed his interference in Elefsina and then at the Eleusis General Hospital “Thriassio”, where he was hospitalized in a stable condition.

In the light of the foregoing, it is advisable to point out that EKAB, in constant cooperation with the Air Force – which are managed by all volatile media – attempts daily throughout the territory, including the most remote areas, with the sole purpose of protecting human life. Each decision is made on the basis of real medical and operational data and by strict adherence to the security rules governing flights, ensuring the safety of patients, crews and media.
