Since 1965 when the first Ford Transit came out of the production line, this historic American brand model remains firmly at the top, being a tireless and reliable ally for every professional, business and community worldwide.

Much has changed since then – but some things remain stable.

With more than 13,000,000 Ford Transit being built over the last 60 years, the model’s timeless appeal is confirmed. The size of this success becomes even more impressive if one considers that a new van comes out of the production line every 2.5 minutes – uninterrupted, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

As Transit’s friends around the world celebrate the 60 years of the iconic vehicle – and begin the countdown to the long -awaited Transit Festival, which will take place in Essex, UK on September 20th – it’s time to take a look at some of its impressive elements.

The transit in numbers

Transit is the most sales van worldwide.

From 1965 until today, 10,100,000 van model copies have been built in Europe and Turkey and more than 13,000,000 worldwide.

In 2024, almost 1 in 5 van vehicles in Europe in the one and two -ton categories were Ford Transit or Transit Custom. 1

In 2024, a new Ford Transit was sold in Europe about every 2 minutes. 1

Ford Transit’s variations available in the two -tone category exceed 1,300. These relate to different options in relation to the type, length and height of the body, engine and equipment level. These do not calculate the different shades of the body and the additional equipment packages.

The MK1 transit offered a payload of about 1,700 kg. Today’s Transit in the Panel Van version offers a payload of more than 2,400 kg. 2

Transit in the L4 H3 version can carry almost 236,000 table tennis balls to the loading area, which has a volume of 15.1 m³.

The power of electric Ford Supervan 4.2 is 2,000 PS.

The extensive capacity battery of the new Ford e-transit offers up to 402 km-ie 28% higher than the version of the model with the standard capacity battery. ³

The increase in the annual sales of Transit and Transit Custom in Europe between 2014 and 2024 is 52%. ¹

In 2024, in Europe and Turkey, Ford Transit’s production was four times as compared to that of the first full year of the model in 1966.

Thanks to the Fordliive system, the extra days of availability enjoyed by the owners of the Transit models in Europe in 2024 amounted to 822,000.

The special requirements of Transit customers for personalized vehicles are supported by 217 Ford Pro converters, which are located in 18 European countries.
