Very high risk of fire manifestation (Category 4) is provided for tomorrow Wednesday 20 August 2025, according to Fire Risk Provision Map issued by General Secretariat for Civil Protectionfor the following areas:
– Northern Aegean Region (Samos, PE Ikaria)
– South Aegean Region (IP Kalymnos, IP Kos, IP Rhodes, IP Karpathos)
– Region of Crete (Heraklion PE, Lassithi PE)
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (civilProtection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection has informed the competent state -owned government agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased political protection in order to deal with any firefighters.
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection recommends that citizens are very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks, cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
In the event of a fire, citizens are kindly requested to alert the Fire Service immediately in the 199 call number 199.
