Member of a gang who systematically committed theft of houses and tourist accommodation at Naxosremoving money, valuables and valuable items, was arrested on Saturday, August 23, 2025, by police officers from the Naxos Police Department and Small Cyclades.

He is a 33 -year -old alien who, in his attempt to escape, fell into a building and was injured.

A criminal case was filed against him for a criminal group (gang) and the commitment of distinguished thefts and by co -conspiracy.

In the case, according to the Policeare two more associates of the arrested, who are sought.

As it became known by the Police, a special investigation group was set up to end their criminal activity, which found two of the perpetrators who were fled to flee when they were found in a complex of newly reported accommodation.

Searches followed during which the 33 -year -old was found and immobilized, in the building, where he had fallen.

Occupation of the 33 -year -old and in the surrounding area were found and confiscated, screwdriver, backpack and shoulder bag containing money, jewelry, footwear and female bags that the perpetrators had removed earlier from tourist accommodation in the wider area.

A total of 12 cases of money theft and objects have been resolved so far, an estimated value of more than 120,000 euros, which have committed the period from 25-7-25 to 23-8-2025.

The 33-year-old was immediately transferred with EKAB station to the General Hospital. Naxos where he was arrested after being provided with medical care and will be referred to the Naxos Public Prosecutor’s Office.

It is noted that restrictive conditions for theft cases apply to the detriment of the arrested.

In a statement from ELAS, it is emphasized that the Police Services in the South Aegean have been implemented by a reinforced plan for security and police measures.

The beam of measures includes the complete operational utilization of all available police units and means and to conduct systematic and, where appropriate, specialized inspections, with the aim of:

* Prevention of abusive behaviors and minor crime

* Systematic policing of tourist areas

* Increased operational response to emergencies

* Ensuring a stable and safe environment for citizens and visitors of our islands, throughout the current tourist season
