Ford Transit has already written its own story in the legendary Nürburgring. His reputation on the emblematic German track began to be “built” in an episode of the well -known Top Gear television show with then -presenter Jeremy Clarkson welcoming the late Sabine Schmitz.

For those who did not have the opportunity to watch this show, the challenge was to persuade Jeremy Clarkson to lead a Jaguar S-Type with the aim of completing a full round in the famous and demanding “Ring” in less than 10 minutes. As soon as the British presenter did it, Sabine Schmitz said, “I can go faster with a Ford Transit!”

We will not reveal to you what happened at the end of the episode, but from that day onwards, the dream for many of the people of Ford Performance was to bring a Ford Transit to its limits on the ‘ring. And now was the right time.

The transit used in this test was none other than Supervan 4.2 – an incompatible, specially constructed electric van with 2,000 hp, which was designed from the beginning to conquer some of the most important tracks and events in the world. Already, Supervan 4.2 holds a round record in Bathurst, while it was the undisputed ruler at this year’s Pikes Peak. However, where he had not yet demonstrated his potential was in the famous “green hell”.

In this, in the hands of the well -known Romain Dumas driver, Ford’s Supervan 4.2 managed to stop the timer at the most impressive 6: 48.393 – performance that makes this unique EV the 9th fastest vehicle ever completed a timed round on that track. And to have an even more tangible comparison, this performance means that the electric Transit Supervan 4.2 is faster in ‘Ring’ both than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Chevrolet ZR1X.

However, Ford Performance is not resting, as more news will follow soon, mainly for the F-150 Lightning Supertruck, which was also found in the ‘Ring’ on the same day.
