OR Hellenic Train It announced that today, at 18:25, the IC55 train, which operated the Thessaloniki – Athens route at 18:25, shortly after the Aliartos area, dragged the herd of animals that entered the railway line, resulting in a temporary immobilized.
The incident, according to the Hellenic Train, caused minor material damage to the train, without injuries, and the 400 passengers, as well as Hellenic Train staff, are in good health.
Upon completion of the necessary checks, the train staff made the safe continuation of the route to Athens, with a delay of 95 minutes. “During the waiting within the air -conditioned train, Hellenic Train staff were constantly close to passengers, providing them with water and providing continuous information on the development of the incident,” the company said.
Hellenic Train also informs that under European Regulation 2021/782, trainers can be compensated with 25% of their ticket value, in the following ways:
– Tickets issued by ticket offices and paid in cash are only compensated by active tickets.
– Ticket holders who have been purchased with card, regardless of sales channel (tickets, webticketing & app) can:
– Either contact a station to compensation for the ticket.
– Either send a written request to the company through the complaints/requests form with the ticket number, if it is electronic, or to attach the PDF of the ticket or a clear photo if it is a publication, requesting the price, which will be returned to the card used to purchase the ticket.
