With great splendor, according to the centuries -old ecclesiastical order and tradition, today, Monday, September 1st, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the beginning of Indicus – the Ecclesiastical New Year – and the Synod of the Virgin Mary of the Virgin Mary of the Virgin Mary. The Ecumenical Patriarchate has devoted this day since 1989, and to prayer in favor of protecting the natural environment.
In his message, Panagiotis emphasizes that the Ecumenical Patriarchate not only pointed out the seriousness of environmental problems in a timely manner, but turned their attention to their causes and backgrounds, and proposed solutions on the basis of the Orthodox Thanksgiving and ascetic.
“Orthodoxy as faith, divine worship and worldly testimony is the ecophilic form of Christianity. In the sense of this, the proclamation of the Feast of Indicus on a day of prayer in favor of protecting the natural environment was not only reaction to the modern ecological crisis, but a consequence and extension of the life of the Church as “applied ecology”. From the outset we also proclaimed the indivisible to respect the creation and the human person and highlighted the common root and the sequence of environmental and social problems. The departure from God gives birth to the possessive and exploitative attitude and behavior towards building and fellow human beings, while Christ and Christ is a source of environmental sensitivity and philanthropic action in Christ and Christ. Bartholomew.
Elsewhere in his message, the Patriarch points out: “The Ecumenical Patriarchate, with the struggle for peace, righteousness and solidarity, will continue to lead the protection of nature, in the promotion of its ecological themes and its ecological themes. The importance of the Christian Ecophilic Principles and Traditions in the Framework of International Institutions, Ecological Organizations, Scientific Institutions and Civil Society. We are confident that the partnership in the field of ecology reinforces the sense of common responsibility for the course of the future and creates a new favorable perspective.
“Returning to what we refer to in our earlier message, calling for the provinces of the Mother of the Church, parish and the Holy Monastery, to develop coordinated actions and specific interventions to mobilize the faithful. The implementation of the ecological consequences of our faith in the act is a decisive dimension of our Orthodox self -esteem. “
On the occasion of the Feast of the Authority of Indicus, Constantinople and the Ecumenical Patriarchate is visited by Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Loverdos. Mr. Loverdos attended the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of St. George, danced by the Ecumenical Patriarch. Bartholomew, with whom he then had a private meeting.
In a statement after the Divine Liturgy, the Deputy Foreign Minister said:
“With great joy and honor I am here again in the sacred places of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fanari, to attend the festivities of the Indicus, that is, the beginning of the new ecclesiastical year. I have the opportunity to meet with Panagiotis Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew, whom all Hellenism and Orthodoxy respect. It is a great form for our religion and not only. This year, as every year, Indictus is dedicated to protecting the natural environment for which the Patriarch has devoted much of his activity all these 33 years on the throne. And we have every debt to serve in this great protection, for the effort made to protect our natural environment, which is also the big issue for the whole world. With great respect for the universal humanism of Hellenism and Orthodoxy, I hope soon to return here to these holy spaces. “
The Divine Liturgy was attended by co -praying hierarchs of the Throne, the Consul General of Greece in Constantinople, Ambassador Konstantinos Koutras, Archbishops of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and faithful from Constantinople and abroad.
Mr Loverdos will remain in Constantinople until September 2, and will have meetings with representatives of the Greek community and with educational institutions during his visit.
