The name of the undefeated Alkiviadis Kampanos was taken from the municipal football stadium of the Workers’ Housing of Efkarpia, in the Municipality of Pavlos Mela, in western Thessaloniki, by decision of the municipal council. According to the municipal authority, the renaming of the sports venue, which was recently upgraded, is a small tribute to the unfortunate young man, so that this symbolic initiative can be a springboard to prevent the recurrence of violence and authoritarianism.

The renaming took place in the presence of Alkis’s mother and other relatives, while the mayor Pavlos Melas, Dimitris Demourtzidis, welcomed the 200 young football players of the Municipal academies, the parents – guardians of the athletes, the former international football players Angelos Ha Katsambi and the guests.

Alkis’s mother, Mrs. Melina Kampanou, excited, addressing the young footballers, urged them to be fans and not fans and wished that there would be no other victims of blind fan violence.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia and Thrace, Stavros Kalafatis, the President of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulos, the Thessaloniki MP Costas Gioulekas, the Vice President of KEDE and Mayor of Ampelokiaro – Kyreno Voula Patoulidou, Angelos Charisteas, who also holds the position of Deputy Regional Governor for Digital Government. Also, the veteran football players Dimitris Salpiggidis, Tasos Katsambis, etc.

With the central slogan “No to fan violence”, football matches were also organized with 200 children, 18 divisions K7, K8, K11 of the infrastructure departments of the clubs Pavlos Melas, Finikas Polichnis, Niki Efkarpias, Nikopolis, Omonia Stavroupolis, Esperos Tesperos ΑΟΝ Ευκαρπίας.
