A total of 19,489 recruitment of regular staff in the public sector for 2026 was approved by the Council of Ministers, following the presentation of the Minister and the Deputy Minister of Interior, Thodoris Livanios and Vivis Charalambogiannis, respectively.
According to government priorities, the distribution mainly focuses on the areas:
Health: Strengthening the National Health System with 5,228 positions, of which 5,000 medical, nursing and other staff in all health structures of the Ministry of Health.

Local Government: Increase last year’s distribution and the strongest reinforcements of the period from 2020 onwards. Climate crisis: The reinforcement of the Fire Brigade continues. Justice: 130 judicial officers and more of these, 45 recruitment to the Judicial Police, reinforce the CoE with 50 recruitment and 375 judicial officers – mainly secretaries of courts – to support the faster operation of courts. Additional reinforcement of the central service with 40 recruitments. Total 640 new hires.
Audit mechanisms: Strengthening AADE with 700 recruitments, of which 364 tax recruitment, 201 customs, 118 computer science and 17 budgetary etc. support sectors, as well as the work inspection with over 40 posts.
Social cohesion and family: Strengthening the structures of the Ministry with 315 recruitments, 269 of which are distributed to social welfare centers and the Evritania Chronic Disease Clinic and the rest of the Deaf National Foundation and the National Center for Social Research, the Center for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind.
Accelerate recruitment procedures throughout the State: ASEP reinforcement with 30 hires.
It is noted that the planning of 19,489 recruitment in the State for 2026 is a continuation of 122,203 recruitments approved for the years 2020 to 2025 and therefore a total of 141,692 for the total of six years.
