Outside the passenger operation is the Thessaloniki subway from Monday 10 November to Wednesday 10 December 2025due to the necessary trials and systems to expand the network to Kalamaria. These tests are considered necessary for the safe completion of the project and will affect the operating program before and after that period.
The relevant decisions were taken at a meeting held at the offices of Hellenic Metro SA. in Thessaloniki, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Transport Constantine Kyranakis, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Nikos Tahaios and the competent bodies for the transport project (Hellenic Metro, OSEH, OASTH, Thema), with the main subject of trains and trains.
According to a statement, for the safe completion of the trials and systems of expansion to Kalamaria, the Thessaloniki Metro will remain out of passenger operation from Monday 10 November to Wednesday 10 December 2025.
During this period, as well as before and after that, the subway route program will be modified, as detailed in the tables below, to ensure the smooth and seamless conduct of the network tests to Kalamaria.

The ministry in a statement also notes that, already in the subway train station, The first four trains recently received and expected by the end of the year another three (total seven) of the fifteen to be launched on the network.

It is noted that the number of constant traffic vehicles has increased by 40 from the start of the metro on 30/11/2024. At the same time, KTEL THESSALONIKI SA, as a provider of the transport project, will launch the corresponding period of 182 vehicles with the total number exceeding 500.
Thus, urban bus routes do not change and added to them:
● New service line with M1 code
The new line will mainly run the Metro route, from the N. Switzerland terminal to the new Railway Station on the Kon. Karamanlis – Egnatia – Monastery and vice versa. The M1 line will stop at 11 stops with the time of the New Switzerland to the NSS. and vice versa to be estimated from 30 to 35 minutes and the frequency of bus crossing is estimated at 7 – 10 minutes.
; Thickening of line routes
Extra routes will be put into the routes (3K, 31, 39, 58), which are directly affected by changes in the subway program with an average transit time per line of 8 – 10 minutes (from 12 – 18 minutes today).
Finally, the ministry informs their Holders of Personalized Cards of Monthly, Quarter or Semi -monthly That will be an extension to the use of cards corresponding to the termination of the subway so that no passenger or all prepaid routes will be lost.
