A police operation has been underway since the early hours of the morning in Attica and areas of Northern Greece for his case OKAY.

So far there have been 37 arrests for “criminal frauds at the expense of the financial interests of the European Union as well as the national economy, illegally receiving aid from OPEKEPE through false statements”, as stated in a relevant announcement.

The operation is coordinated by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece and extends to Thessaloniki, Pella, Edessa, Ioannina, Attica and Crete “for the dismantling of a criminal organization that was active in criminal fraud”.

According to information, among those arrested are two alleged leading membersone A 38-year-old from Giannitsa and a 36-year-old from Crete. The second worked in document reception centers and the first claimed to be a farmer.

The arrests were made after her intervention European Public Prosecutor’s Office for his scandal OKAYwhile those arrested will be taken to Athens and will be referred to the European Public Prosecutor.

According to police sources, the period of time for which the investigation was carried out is between 2018-2022.

It is estimated that in this period of time those involved received around 20 million euros.

How they set up the combine

Those arrested seem to have set up an elaborate “trick” in order to get the subsidies.

According to police sources, at first they were entering the system and finding “orphaned” parcels of land, that is, parcels of land that were undeclared.

Then they would declare them in someone’s name and thus get the subsidies.
