The multinational exercise “Aegean Seal 25-I” was conducted from October 12 to 23 in the wider maritime area of ​​the southern Euboean and Saronic gulfs.

As announced by the Naval General Staff (GNS), the exercise is organized every year by Naval and has as its main object the Naval Special Operations and specifically the pre-landing operations of Very Shallow Water Minesweeping and Mine Disposal – Improvised Explosive Devices/Mechanisms.

The Navy participated in the exercise with the general support ship “Atlas I”, with an S70B, Aegean Hawk helicopter, as well as with means and personnel from the Submarine Disaster Management.

The exercise involved Mine Action Teams, divers, autonomous demining and demining vehicles, medical and support personnel from Belgium, Estonia, USA, Spain, Italy, Latvia and Poland.

During the exercise, the statement added, multiple training items were carried out with an emphasis on mine detection and neutralization, mine countermeasure operations procedures in very shallow waters in a multiple/asymmetric threat environment as well as techniques for neutralizing standardized or improvised explosive devices on land and at sea.

The exercise contributed to the maintenance and increase of operational readiness as well as to the promotion of the level of cooperation and interoperability of the participants in an allied context, concludes the GEN announcement.
